Safety Officer

The role of the Safety Officer is decisive for the operation of a company, not just for meeting its legal obligations, but for ensuring the protection of the Health and Safety of employees.

The services of the Safety Offcer are provided in accordance with the current Greek legislation and are an obligation for the employers. The minimum time required and duration of the Safety Officer’s inspection in each company and site is precisely determined by law. The Safety Officer follows an annual inspection schedule, which is endorsed by the Labor Inspection Force through the SEPENET online system SEPEnet .

His role is advisory to the company by providing written or verbal instructions, which are entered in the Safety Technician Instructions Book, considered by the Labor Inspection Force.

The duties of the Safety Officer are summarized in two pillars:

  1. Supervision of working conditions

For which the Safety Officer:

  • controls the safety of facilities, technical means, production processes & work methods
  • inspects jobs
  • reports any omission of Health & Safety measures
  • proposes risk management measures and supervises their implementation
  • oversees the correct use of personal protective equipment
  • investigates the causes of accidents, proposes measures to prevent similar incidents in the future
  • supervises the execution of fire safety and alarm drills

 

  1. Improvement of working conditions

For which the Safety Officer:

  • ensures that employees comply with Health & Safety rules
  • informs and guides employees to prevent occupational risks
  • participates in the preparation and implementation of educational programs for Health & Safety issues
